This blog post has been on my list for a long time. I have resisted writing it for some reason. Maybe because I don’t feel like I am an expert and my journey, like for most people, has been difficult. I keep feeling like I should be more successful before I write my blog.
What I have learned or maybe this information has just sunk in…I need to start where I am and share what I learn. So here goes…
When I first got into affiliate marketing I thought that it would be so easy. Find a product I loved and put my link out there and people would buy. Then I would have a side hustle that I could depend on. What I didn’t realize was that I had a lot to learn.
This was my first foray into online marketing. I was kind of naive to think that I would have success right out of the gate with no experience.
Over the years I have learned about affiliate marketing. I am not where I want to be yet interms of my affiliate income but I have learned ALOT.
The song lyrics that came to mind regarding my journey is a song from the Beatles written by Paul McCartney called “The Long And Winding Road”.
“Many times I’ve been aloneAnd many times I’ve criedAnyway, you’ll never knowThe many ways I’ve tried”
I have tried and failed so many times. Being a Solopreneur can be a very lonely journey. I have spent many a night with my head on my desk…wondering what I was doing wrong. I would see so many posts during the day on social media about people having success with affiliate marketing and here I was still feeling like I wasn’t getting anywhere.
TIP #1: Don’t compare yourself to others.
Out of all of this what I have learned about myself is that I am very stubborn and I do not give up easily. It is so important to find something that you love or are passionate about. If I wasn’t passionate about affiliate marketing I would have given up long ago. I would not have had any reason to continue.
This last year things really started to change for me.
I now have consistent monthly income. This has just reinforced for me that this is what I want to build for myself. Also having that consistent income, even though it is not huge, has been life changing. My stress level has reduced significantly and I am now in profit. I am earning more than I am spending in tools for my business. 👍😀.
My big take-away: Sometimes you feel like you are going backwards but it is really only a hairpin turn. As you make your turn you realize that you are going up and making progress in your journey to the top. You are not really going backwards like you thought.
TIP #2: Take action.
Fail quickly and learn so that you can make progress towards your goals. Failure itself is not a problem. It only becomes a problem if you don’t learn from your mistakes.
