multiple sources of income

The Myth Of Mulitple Streams Of Income

I am so guilty of falling for the myth that you need multiple streams of income in order to be successful.  I can’t even begin to tell you how many different opportunities I have chased with the thought that I needed to promote many different offers.  If I can not be successful with one offer…how can I be successful promoting many??

Success has more to do with subtraction than addition

Success has more to do with saying NO more than you say YES.  The key is FOCUS.

For example; if you have 5 hours a week to work on your business and you are trying to promote 5 different offers, you may spend 1 hour on each offer every week.  None of your offers are getting your full attention.  Malcolm Gladwell has stated that it takes 10,000 hours to master a skill.  If you are only spending 1 hour/week on it it will take you quite a while to become successful.

More than likely you will get discouraged at your lack of progress quit long before you gain success.

Now on the other hand what if you spent all of the 5 hours on 1 offer and just focused.  You would gain momentum and success that much faster.  Once you focus it is amazing how much faster things seem to happen.

Being focused in one area that I struggle with the most.

I have a ton of interests and enjoy learning.  But I have to look myself in the mirror and be honest with myself.

I am not doing myself any favors by indulging in my interests.  I has substantially slowed my business growth and to be honest I think it has confused what little audience I have because they don’t know what to focus on either.  A confused mind does not buy.

There is a right way to promote multiple streams of income

The way that people become successful with multiple streams of income is that they focus on promoting the one thing on the front end.  That is consistent.  Your audience all goes to that one offer on that one platform.  So now you are growing your list and emailing on a regular basis.

Now is when you can start to introduce other offers.  What I mean by other offers are tools and services that support your main offer.

If you are teaching dog training then your other offers may be dog foods, dog toys, leashes, activities to do with your dog.  You stay consistent in your niche and your main offer.  You don’t suddenly start talking about cats.

Once you have gained the success that you desire with that one niche then consider branching out if you have multiple interests.  Gain success in one thing before you try promoting multiple.
